Game Installation

Everybody must use the exact same game as mention here. Technically the game works between players using different versions, but to make sure nobody have advantage or disadvantage and prevent connection problems is important everybody follow this instructions:

F1 2016

  1. Download F1 2016 V1.0.29.2687 Steam Rip (by Revolt) Part 1 and Part 2.

  2. Download Steamworks Fix.

  3. Create a folder and Unzip Part 1 in there.

  4. Unzip Part 2 over the same folder. Replace any files that are already on that folder.

  5. Unzip Steamworks Fix over the same folder and replace all the files.

  6. Open Steam and start the game running "stp-f12016.exe".

Recording

All races most be recorded by all members and uploaded to YouTube in the 72 hours after each race. This is to use for detecting cheaters, give penalties, etc. Your fastest lap on qualify is also obligatory to record and upload. Recording all qualify is optional, only if you want to show any incident. Also, you most show your car setup on the garage before race, to prove you are using default.

You don't have a screen recorder? I really recommend Bandicam since doesn't affect FPS in the game while recording, and it produce a relatively small video file (is compress). There is also FRAPS, but for some reason it always locks FPS to 30 in the game, and I don't see a way to prevent this. Also the problem with FRAPS is that produce a very big video file. There is also Action! recorder that works pretty well.

If after capturing all race the video file is too big to upload, you can compress the video with H264 Encoder that is a easy-to-use tool, and is free. Or you can use any video compressor/encoder you want. After that, upload to any youtube channel you have (create a new channel if you want). To finish, post the link of the video in the forum.

The quality of the video can be very poor. It only needs to be watchable, so you can reduce quality to make sure the screen recorder don't affect your FPS in any way.

If you need help to get the recorder working, ask for help to the administrator long before GP start. Around GP time is not the moment for troubleshooting.

Game Advanced Control Settings for Steering Wheel

I recommend all advanced settings on the game to be 0 (zero), to make the experience more realistic.

If your steering wheel is one of those that can rotate 900° and is customizable, you might want to set the rotation limit to 400° to play F1 2016 (is the real rotation degree the game is setup compare to real F1 cars, as far I can tell).

If your steering wheel have 180° to 270° rotation limit you might want to increase linearity a little.

If your pedals are not very accurate, maybe you can add a little dead zone to them.

Preparing to the race - Tips

  • Is recommended to be online 1 hour earlier to test, chat, practice, etc.

  • Stop any downloader or application using the internet, so the bandwidth is completely free preventing lag problems. Also, make sure no other person in your home use the internet while you race.

  • Make sure to select in the game the car constructor (team) that was assigned by this league before the GP start. Even in practice before GP you should use your team.

  • Don't make experiments about the game or recorder or internet connection around the GP time, because if you have problems you might not get time to fix it. So do all tests and try new things days before race.

  • Free practice are done any day of the week when we see a few members online at the same time. So if you want to practice, make sure you login into Steam and keep all members on your friend list to know when they are online so you can invite them.
